You must have seen this movie over a hundred times on how you spot all these things. You got a good eye for sporting so many things in one film .

The Turk was going to send Luca to the fishes regardless. He wanted to send Sonny a message. From the moment Luca walked in the bar, he was dead.

Luca was gone, they'd heard the stories and knew his reputation and that he answered to no man except Vito.

About the whole Luca Brasi, the novel details that it was indeed a spionage mission given by the Don. Luca was usually hanging around Tattaglia controlled nigthclubs and hiring their top girls, until his presence was common to the Tattaglias, until one day, all of a sudden, he was approached by Bruno and Sollozzo.
The movie had to thin the novel, cutting most of the fat. It is still a masterpiece but the context given by the original Puzzo work makes everything come together

A 30 second ad for a 36 second video... seems legit

I disagree - I believe Sollozzo was going to kill Luca Brasi anyway because they ordered the hit on Vito, so they had to get rid of Luca in case he came to revenge the death of his boss. The fact that Luca presented himself to them on their turf was a gift. Sollozzo and Bruno Tattaglia were not idiots. They knew they were getting played. This was a tactical error by Vito.

Michael and Sonny avenged Luca's death.

I thought Luca didn't shake hands because he didn't want to seem too obvious that he was a spy for the Corleones. If he agreed inmmediately, they would be even more sure it was a ruse. Turns out, they knew it was a ruse all along.

Of course we're talking about fiction but assuming reality if he shook his hand the deal would have gone down and Luca would not be sleeping with the fishes. Excellent analysis.

Thank goodness for Michael and his wits.

I respectfully disagree. They were sure from the beginning to kill Luca. Sollozzo wanted to move against the Corleones, so he had to eliminate their most important murderer.
About the refusal to shake hands: Luca didn't want to appear to be persuaded lightly. So, it was an act of hesitation, as if he had to hear more about the suggestion.

Sollozzo’s business is a little to dangerous😳

Even if Luca was convincing to Bruno & The Turk they would've still kill Luca regardless. Because in that line of business you can never trust a man capable of betraying his own Boss.

For one if Luca accepted his offer he would be a traitor to the Corleone family . Traitors can't be trusted . So either way Luca was a dead man going in

So true, if Luca had just shaken his hand, he might've made it through another day.
