4n - 16 = - 5
4n = 16 - 5
4n = 11
n = 11/4 but anyway this is still not a whole number
Thanks

If you take square root of 400 first and then divide by 2, then you get whole number 10, so how do you know if you should divide first or take square root first?

you didnt show what if there was a sequence that the first difference is not equal .
that you need to see the difference of the first to get the final difference

Great video thanks again. Quick question (I know you're busy) is it always acceptable to use algebra to solve the "is given number in the sequence" questions?

Great video, however EXAM Q3 - question 7b =     4n-16=-5 then the answer should say, n=11/4 not n=21/4 as -5+16 = 11 not 21 !
