When AI Plays Wordle..

Today I decided to challenge AI, ChatGPT in a 1v1 Wordle Rematch. I thought it would be interesting to see if a actual robot could beat me. Who do you think won?

Wordle is Brutal.. and so is waiting every day to play another game. This website allows me to play 3 to 8 letter words so it works out! How did I do? No AI needed for this task. I had my CS students write simple algorithms to solve Wordle puzzles using a dictionary of 5-letter words. A few basic optimizations like carefully-chosen starting words and some basic for guessing and they were able to solve them reliably. They’d only been programming for a few weeks at the time.

5:43 I don;t think there’s a rule for fairness. AI is already unfair when you’re competing against it since it has significantly higher data to analyze to predict the word. While you only have logic and feeling for what might be. Your advantage is tactic, while the AI’s advantage is just learning from previous tries and data and predicting based upon those data.

i once made a tool for solving wordle puzzles, wasn't an AI just a large dictionary of 5 letter words and a little statistical analysis to order them by which have the most occurrence of the most common letters and excluding any that have non-allowed letters, and only counting multiples of the SAME letter as one occurrence of the letter (so eerie didn't get top spot)

what i found is the best opening word is arose. also by using the tool i almost never get below solve in 3.

that being said, the point of the tool wasn't to solve wordle puzzles, the point of the tool was to make the tool. that's where the fun is, solving an interesting challenge.
