(PIN?) Since we are talking about the "Ruy Lopez": This opening has been studied and researched for more decades than people are probably old here. Aside from that it is the most-well researched opening ever at GM Level. There are even variations when you are trying to kick away that white bishop that tries to pin your knight. For the first time you push a pawn and for the second. The second is considered to be the Columbus Variation.
