Earth sided solar activity today is low, however a noteworthy event on the farside of the sun was observed beginning at 13:15 UTC earlier today (Feb 20, 2016) . A large filament erupted and was responsible for a bright coronal mass ejection (CME), now visible in the latest STEREO Ahead COR2 imagery. Because this took place on the other side of the sun, there will be no impact to our geomagnetic field. Attached video of the eruption courtesy of STEREO Ahead EUVI 195.

What stops these eruptions from happening on the earth facing side of the sun. To me it seems there is much more and more intense activity on the far side then the earth facing side. Thank you for your videos and your fabulous web site.
