Review: 2023 Honda CR-V Hybrid

Показать описание
I spend a day with the all-new 2023 Honda CR-V Hybrid to see how it compares to the previous generation as well as how it compares to the non-hybrid 2023 CR-V. Overall, it's a big improvement in many ways compared to the old one, and still one of the top hybrid SUVs with up to 43 mpg, but it's also still missing a few key features, and other popular features are locked to only the top Sport Touring hybrid model. Nevertheless, the 2023 CR-V Hybrid is still a very competitive vehicle and Honda is betting that 50% of CR-V buyers will go hybrid for this new generation CR-V. What do you think about the 6th generation CR-V? Thanks to Honda for providing this opportunity and vehicle to review!

Thanks for the review. I still enjoy my Mustang but I'm also interested in hybrid vehicles. I was considering the RAV4 but now I'm thinking that the hybrid CRV is the better choice.

I agree that the Road Departure Mitigation is over reactive so I turned it off but kept all the other Honda Sensing modes on.

I love the return of the shifter . I would never buy a car with anything else . Great move Honda . Beautiful car all around . Can't say that I lose sleep over hard plastic . Cooled seats would be nice .

1)Basic maintenance, should be owner FREINDLY.
2) General, replacement parts, affordable, under warranty.
3) Honda, pit crews, staff &
Sales. available.
4) Financial options reasonable.
5) 24/7 websites accessable.
6) Service stations, i.e. Honda..mechanics affordable, to keep diagnostics, on record for scheduled inspections, and safety issues that need addressed.(Recalls.etc.)

Why the omission of the LED fog lights…? Our 2021 CRV hybrid has them ..honestly I love Honda..but there is weird omissions on this model for the price..

My iPhone 15 Pro Max fits and charges perfectly on the wireless charging pad and doesn’t move around (it has a Speck case which might help with staying put. I’ve had my 2024 CR-V Sport L AWD (hybrid as per all the Sport trims) and am loving it after 6 weeks in a northern Michigan winter.

Best review I've seen. Wanted to see a comparison vs. 2002 CR-V and vs. other hybrids. 👍

Another great video, Matt! I absolutely love this new CRV. I am seriously considering this vehicle for my next "Dadwagon". My Wife will be keeping her 4Runner. WE have two Daughters under 3

I love Honda, but I wish they'd add a panoramic roof, 360 degree camera, heated and ventilated seats to the CRV, so I'm considering buying the RAV 4 hybrid, which offers all these features. This CRV hybrid is so handsome and has such a premium look, though I'm still looking it.

Hello Matt, great review as always. I always appreciate you being objective when reviewing vehicles. Far too many automotive journalist these days call every single mainstream car slow, for starters. They’re not being objective, because their so use to driving Porsches, Lamborghini’s, Ferraris, McLaren’s, and the list of super cars goes on and on. When I first saw this new CRV, I thought, “Omg, how bland; dead, the styling is. Though, in the last week it has really grown on me. I love the new styling because it looks more truck like, like an SUV should look. Kudos to Honda. I owned a 2017 Honda CRV Sport Touring. I thought I loved it, until I realized what a real SUV should look like, and that was the Jeep Grand Cherokee Summit I traded the CRV in for.

My Grand Cherokee Summit was loaded to the gills, and with the 350 cubic inch (5.7 liter) V8 in it. Whewww, what a beautiful vehicle that was. I’ve owned 3 Grand Cherokees total. I just traded my 2021 Jeep Grand Cherokee. Unfortunately, I had to downsize as I just bought my dream house. In any event, I traded my JEEP GC in for the all new Kia Sportage X-line. Love everything about the vehicle. Contrary to what automotive journalist say regarding the Sportage being agonizingly slow; I completely disagree. My Sportage is plenty quick with excellent low and mid range power; beautiful, silky, quick shifting 8 speed automatic. I love it. What is the world coming to when a vehicle that does 0-60 miles per hour in sub-9.0 seconds is considered slow. I don’t understand. Furthermore, I stepped down to the Sportage after driving V8 and V6 Jeep GC, mind you. So, it doesn’t get more objective than that.

However, I love the all new Jeep GC, and want another one ( I’ll give it a year, before I trade up). However, I’m loving this new CRV. It looks so traditional, more truck like, like an SUV should look. The more I look at this new CRV ( and of course the Jeep GC), my Sportage, as was the case with my 2017 Honda Sport Touring, My 2023 Kia Sportage is starting to look more and more like a Space ship ( hhahahaha hahahahh). This new CRV is traditional, more reserved, yet very stylish with superb attention to detail. I love the high long hood, which also makes this CRV look more truck like. That long hood makes it look like a rear drive 4X4, midsize SUV; love it. I like how Honda kept the rear funky tail lamps as the same as previous generations (but thank hod they toned them Down). Though, thankfully, they now look more refined, more grown up, say like, that of a Volvo SUV, opposed to the Space Ship on “lost in space” (hahahahahah hahahahha). I’ve also read other drive reviews on this new CRV, and both the base 1.5 turbo, and this new Hybrid power plant ( especially the hybrid power plant) are getting rave reviews for great power deli every and acceleration. Furthermore, this new CRV is rated at 48 miles per gallon, overall, I think, or over 40 miles per gallon total combined, anyway.

Matt, thanks again for your review. You always do a great job. You’re always objective, and fair when evaluating your test cars. I appreciate that and love watching your channel.

Not sure how this doesn’t get the full digital dash, but the Civic touring does?

Also another zonk is how they removed the LED rear turn signals?

Same with the HR-V which also missing the turbo engine.

The value will be ruined by insane mark-ups, Honda and Kia suffer from the highest mark-ups.
