Saturday, 13 June 2015. The day after the end of the school, first day of summer holidays. I went to the river by bike with my best friend and we stayed out all the afternoon, enjoying the moment and sweating a lot because It was a super hot and sunny day. The meaning of this video is pretty simple and actually works perfectly with the lyrics of the song. In the beginning, you see the boy wondering an abandoned water park. This represents his journey in life and his longing to 'explore' and see what's out there.

He quickly meets a young girl and falls in love with her.. And you'll notice the lyrics say "If you STAY here, I can KEEP you warm at night' right as it shows her face.

So the girl is calling out to him to stay with her.. She's afraid that he is going to leave her and chase after other girls or leave her to chase after fortune / fame.

Which is where the expression 'chasing headlights' comes in.

She wants him to stay, but he wants to run and chase anything that shines (other girls, fortune, fame, etc.)

The girl at :45 represents his longing to be free, to go with the wind, and just run after everything (which is why she is dancing crazy and is also wearing a bathing suit with palm trees on it)

But his first crush (the young girl) is trying to tell him that everything else is all just a big LIE.

Which is why they are all swimming in sand and why the women beside the pool are all wrinkled to death lol.

She is trying to tell them that the dream of chasing fortune, fame, and other girls is all just going to leave him feeling EMPTY.. The hollywood dream is all a lie and is not going to make him happy. While some of it may be glamorous on the outside, underneath it all, it's all empty and ugly on the inside (the wrinkled girls represent this)

She is calling him to stay, but he still wants to run.. But then a big shift happens, Years go by and now they are both in their teens.

The teenage guy who jumps off the diving board at 1:35 is actually a more grown up version of him. (You'll notice a lot of the similar features)

And the girl at 1:38 looking on anxiously is the same girl that he met when he was younger (but now they are both in their teens.)

She wants to know.. is he going to go 'all in' for me?

He is blindfolded and jumping off the diving board to represent him taking a big 'leap of faith'. He's also wearing 'nude' color shorts. Which tells me that the leap of faith is him going all in for the girl, being vulnerable, having sex, and making her 'the one'.

He's also wearing a Yellow blindfold. Yellow represents Happiness, joy, and warmth.

So his leap of faith is him jumping into her arms and going all in for her.

But then, at 1:53 he gets distracted again. You'll notice it's ALL girls in the swimming pool now, tempting him.

The first girl he sees on the left is the same black girl that he first saw in the swimming park. They have the same heartbeat / ambitions (so it could be some other girl that wants to run away to California with him.. Or she could simply represent his dream to run away to Cali to chase fortune / fame)

There are girls on the right (black / white - ying yang) I think they represent girls that just want to party. But you'll notice if you look beyond that, you'll see the young girl walking backwards the whole time (at 1:54)

That girl is his girlfriend (his first crush) telling him to take a step back and think back on all the memories and good times that they had and NOT to get distracted by other things.

Then at 2:06, he remembers all the great times that they had, all their memories, and how much he loves her.. Which is why they are kids again. He chose her.

He finally made it through and didn't get tempted by all the BS and other girls (that are all a lie) They got free from it, but nobody else did. You'll notice the girl at 2:39 (she was a party girl). Well the party lifestyle, caught up to her, lol. and she is spitting out sand now.

The took the slide, got out of there.. and now they are both adults and still together and in love. So it is both of them in the car at the end.

Throwback to 2015: Was smoking a waterpipe with my friends not knowing what to do in life. Listening to this song just vibing for a few weeks/months. Now, a few years passed and I will become a father this summer and (hopefully) finish med school next year and finally become a doctor. Unreal, what can happen in a few years time.
