I am a veteran and through some dirty dealings by another, I was thrust into the jail system and shortly thereafter became homeless. The city was Kirkland Washington and I used to walk under the 'No Veteran shall be Homeless' banners across the road ... a joke, to be sure. My case was eventually heard and I was exonerated and the whole mess was expunged. The accuser was a known felon and was shortly thrust into prison, where he belonged. What an unfortunate mess. He lied to the police and the police believed his side. Ugly deal which ended me in homelessness.

OK, on the the point I really wanted to make - Veterans Health Benefits. As a veteran who served proudly during the Vietnam conflict, I had excellent care stateside. For retirement, I decided to move to the tropical islands of the Philippines. Did you know that unless you're a retired lifer veteran you get NOTHING here. The VA doesn't exist for me at all. If I move back to the states, I get to enjoy the full benefits I've always received stateside. What gives with that? I'm still a U.S. Citizen, I still pay my dues in taxes, but I'm a nobody with the VA health care system. THAT IS WRONG.
