Guild Wars 2: Cantha Expansion Announcement! | GW: Factions Recap

The 3rd Guild Wars 2 expansion was announced last week and it seems we are going to Cantha!
Cantha already was a playable area in the original Guild Wars: Factions.
So, in this video I want to summarize the news that was released by ArenaNet last week and I want to speculate about playable races, elite specializations and new professions.
Next to that, I also want to look back at Cantha in Guild Wars: Factions and show the areas that we might visit in this new Cantha Expansion.

(1) We all know elite specializations almost have to happen at this point...BUT.... what is the chance we see a actual new race? (2) How did you come up with the name of Kyosika for your you tube channel? An lastly (3), have you done or tried the 2 vs 2 new pvp mode? Cantha was a huge part of my memories in GW1 days (more so than Nightfall), it's the expansion that really gave me huge interest in the GW franchise.
Love the fact that we will be revisiting it in the future.

Factions was when I started playing Guild Wars back in 2006. I was only 12 years old at the time, and i think that's why the world felt so incredibly immersive. The severe distinction of the Echovald forest vs the Jade sea were some of my favorite artist directions I've had in all my years of gaming, and with the GW2 engine I'd love to see what they can do with it. I think Echovald with mostly be green these days and the jade sea will be water. But I want to know how everything has changed, both in visuals and lore!!!

I can't state how happy I am with this announcement! When I saw the post I instantaniously had a big smile hahaha:)! I never got to play Guild Wars 1 but this video even made me more excited about what's to come in the Cantha expansion! I'm hoping elite specializations, new race, a new expansion (map) specific feature (like Gliding with Heart of Thorns and Mounts with Path of Fire), hopefully a cool storyline and I can't wait to discover this beautiful region :D!!

I suspect it will be a couple of years. Notice the very last sentence "Dream along with us about where we're going". Devs that have much established don't need to "dream" as it were, which means they're likely still in conceptualization.

It seems like Cantha has pontential to give us great map diversity and lots of content types possibilities. Can't wait!

My guess is that Assassin will become a spec for Thief and Ritualist might become a Revenant thing (not sure how this would work, but it makes the most sense lore-wise, besides the armor). I could see Monk becoming a specialization potentially, maybe for Ele or Mesmer (due to Brother Mhenlo's connection between Cantha and Tyria).

The other thing that interests me besides Factions PvP is the idea of new Revenant voicelines, specifically with Tagachi.

And I just have to say, I felt like a badass on my Sin with full white dye Luxon armor.

Is this expansion going to be with a storyline that doesn't involve an attack on an elder dragon like PoF?


But if it is, between Primordus and 'Steve', which one is more likely going to be the next target?

can you tell me what softwares are you using the stream and what hardwares you are using? also including monitor and in game graphics settings. I feel like I cant seem to get the same performance out of the game. just wondering if its the system or your videos just look better.

a friend of mine had a good idee. might be a bit broken though. role stones, tank/dps/healer role stones to be clear. bonus stats on the stone for the role.
i liked the idee for strikes and raids.
with the tank role stone you draw more agro, get more healt and touphness.
healer role stone gives more healing, boon duration and a 5% outgoing healing.
dsp role stone gives, you already know it. more damage, power, condition damage and a 3% bonus damage.
not to broken but still broken at the start.
and to be true, i like this idee more than a new elite spec.
gives more in return for every one.
btw the role stones are PvE only. way to broken for PvP and WvW.

Why does GuildWars 2 not have actual Guild Wars?

This game needs a better inventory management system for new players. Older players have more inventory space and know which items have less value but new players are really screwed in bag space. I gave up on trying to play this game because I spent 95% of my time doing the inventory shuffle.
