My edit of the 1977 movie ‘A Bridge Too Far’ to commemorate the 80th anniversary of Operation Market Garden.

The operation aimed to drop American, British, and Polish paratroopers at several important bridges in the German-occupied Netherlands. These troops would then hold the bridges until British ground forces arrived to reinforce them.

Though the operation succeeded in capturing the bridges at the cities of Eindhoven and Nijmegen, it ultimately failed in capturing its final objective - the bridge over the Rhine river at Arnhem, where the British paratroopers had to retreat or surrender to the German army.

The movie is almost 3 hours long but very good and accurate to the course of the operation. The paratrooper drop scene is especially notable because of the use of 11 C-47 planes which all together dropped around 1000 men as a part of the film. You can find the full movie on YouTube.

Great vid, my grandfather was a glider pilot on operation market garden landed in the Nijmegen sector on the third day with glider troops.

yan watched this movie back in 78 in the cinema. excellent movie the best war movie of the 70s with Cross of Iron being a close second.
