RIP PSN Communities - A Tribute To A Fallen Hero

A short tribute to PSN Communities, which shut down on April 14th 2021. Millions of PS4 owners will have to say goodbye to PSN Communities, which was a great way to communicate with other PS4 users. Sadly, the downfall of PSN Communities was a long time coming. Sony ceased support of the PSN Communities mobile app back in 2019/2020, and then 2021, Sony has pulled the plug on PSN Communities. It's a shame, but I'm hoping for a replacement for PSN Communities, kinda like how PSN Communities replaced PlayStation Home to an extent, which was back in the PS3 days. Hopefully we'll see something similar on PS5 and mobile apps, so those who don't have PS5 can be there too.

I won't lie, as someone who has been part of the communities since late 2016, the fact that we have had to say goodbye to them is a big L and I can only hope that there will be a new form of communities on PlayStation. After all, it's For The Players, and saying goodbye to communities is not what we wanted.

This act right here, killed my thought of buying the PS5 in a second. This right here sony. Is why i'm never buying one. Now i cannot find players randomly for MC, Forest, COD, GTAV and other great games

The communities were a vital way of finding players for older, lesser played online games. Since the communities have been shut down, I've found it virtually impossible to find people online to play Star Trek Bridge Crew, Friday the 13th and a number of other games. My PS+ is about to run out, and under the situation, I've decided not to renew it. I don't need all the 'free' games they keep giving, and if i can't find players for the games I like anymore, then it's essentially a waste of money now.

still miss em to this day. Use to be how i got help with all call of duty zombie trophies but now they have ruin it all. They had community for everything possible you needed or was interested in.

PlayStation communities was best part about PS4 you where able to play with new people, help players achieve trophies or cosmetic skins. Even though it had some trolls it’s was still fun.

I'm gutted this went I don't have a ton of friends on my list and this helped me find co op players and friends. I only had one bad community experience of toxic drama and I left that group all the others were lovey especially the dragon age group I was in

Just found out they're gone this morning, when I decided to finally revamp the Minecraft group we used to do on there.
Playstation consistently taking our money and slapping us in the mouth, smh.

Still can't believe that they removed the communities, such a dumb move from sony. I used them a lot since ever. I am honest this makes me thinking about better getting a xbox, who knows what else sony is going to remove if they are capable of removing such a great feature.

How tf am I going to find anyone to play dark souls 3 pvp? The dark souls 3 community I was in always had parties to join but now it’s just random ass invasions.

I'm a pc and ps4 player.
The only useful feature has been eliminated, a feature that was used especially by foreign communities on Bloodborne, Dark Souls and other titles to search for players to team up with in various titles.
That Sony had always been an anti-consumer company has been evident for centuries and it is pathetic when you consider that it is a paid service as well as being obsolete without any useful function other than adding friends and playing, enough, otherwise there is none. it is a way to review and there is no way to do anything else to try to amalgamate the community in some way, you have the courage to talk about next gen when you are not even able to understand the term, Sony can also continue to remain in its limbo meanwhile others like Steam and Microsoft advance.
Just STOP support this stupid company, all service is a trash!
