Bruce Ismay

The Ismay Plot.
In a tranquil, beautiful corner of Putney Vale Cemetery lie the Ismay family. Bruce Ismay managed to survive the sinking of the Titanic but from what I have read, was haunted by the disaster and hounded by the press (in print) for much of his life. As I filmed in the quiet, my head filled with noise - metal hitting ice, the passengers screams, the roar of freezing water, the burbling, dying engines and the hard splash of bodies hitting the sea.
Later, when I watched the footage on my computer I thought it had a underwater quality to it, as if i had been filming on the sea bed.

I was going to change the music, but then got used to it...thanks for the C+, that was the kind of grade I always got when I was a kid, so at least I haven't got any worse over the years! :-)

before leaving, he shouted out "Are there any new woman and children on board this deck? because of that he managed to save a child, edith russel, he ensured her safety onto the life boat then left the ship, as any human would do.

Ismay was treated way too harshly. The film portrayal was absurd. It showed him as a devious coward. One of the worst scenes in the film was the scene where he is shown to have named the ship "Titanic" due to some male self-esteem problems. Anyone who knows anything about Titanic, Olympic and Gigantic (later renamed Britannic) is that they were named for mythological beings. Awful depiction. RIP Mr Ismay.

I tried to read what was engraved on his stone grave but it wasn't clear enough and camera was passing by the grave faster, I would like if you can to repost it with a clear shot or at least rewrite it for the viewers of your video, it is an interesting footage and its the only existing in youtube right now, I would appreciate it, thanks for the footage anyway.

I agree, the situation in that night was a horrible, imagine a person in the middle of no where in the ocean, dark night, freezing water, where to go ? just stay and face a slow painful death, it needs gut to handle that, a solder spirit to deal with it, but every person will act different than other, at the end a sergeant can not leave his solders to die in the front and retreat by himself running away from war hell, at least Ismay has chance to leave the country hide somewhere but he didn't !!

I do not know enough about the man to damn him, I merely said a little of what I had read at the time of posting the video. I have since been reading more about him and I can see that opinion is based, sometimes, on the opinion of others. I read a fascinating piece about Randolph Hearst and his hatred for Ismay, which, with the power Hearst had, would no doubt have influenced the opinions of the opinion makers!
