Finding the perimeter of a polygon is easy!

First let's understand what a polygon is.. a polygon is any 2D shape with 3 or more edges or sides.
A polygon has straight lines which makes it easy for us to find the perimeter.
If the measurements are given to us, for example a triangle with sides of 3cm, 4cm and 5cm then we can simply add them up, and remember addition is commutative so it doesn't matter where we start! (check out the addition video on this channel to understand the commutative law)

If we have missing numbers in the perimeter, then quite often we can simply use the information that we do have to help us solve the missing numbers that we don't. For example if we have a missing length on a rectangle then we can look at the opposite length the find the missing one because they will be the same.
