I’m a 16yo with thick 4c hair. I’ve been either rocking a hightop or cutting my hair for 12-14 years ever since I was a baby. When I was a baby my hair used to be a reddish brown. Then because my parents did not want to take care of my hair (because I’m a boy) they (mostly my dad) forced me to get haircuts. They never took care of my hair growing up, expecting me to deal with detangling myself. They did my sisters hair but everyone expected me to just comb my own. So naturally it was nappy, and when it was nappy they made me cut it off. Last year I wanted to define my curls but failed, so my sister (the only one who actually helped my journey) started twisting my hair. I since started getting box braids. And a few months ago on wash day I realized my hair would hang down (only the front since I had a hightop and I’m growing out my sides). I’m beginning to realize my curls couldn’t define because it was too short. Rn my hair is only nose length, but if I grow it to my shoulders i might try this method.

Thank you so much for this video. Every time I do twist outs on my daughter's hair they don't turn out right but I am definitely going to try this! Came back to say...you cannot skip the conditioner. I forgot and my daughter's hair was really dry and it did not turn out well at all.
