A brief overview of the limitless potential for AI to be harnessed by African Smallholder Farmers to easily, efficiently and sustainably tackle food insecurity both locally and globally, therefore mitigating the burden of climate change and malnutrition. Jonas Sogbadji is a PhD Candidate at MIT from Togo whose work focuses on Cardiology. However, his time in Togo gave him a deep understanding of how essential farming is to his family and community—and how devastating crop failures can be. With the rise of AI and the growing challenge of food insecurity, he is also exploring how AI-driven agricultural solutions, tailored to the African context, can empower African Smallholder Farmers.

This is a great presentation. I'm a farmer from Nigeria. I specialise in rice, cassava and potato production. I farm amongst rural individual and cooperative farmers who make up more than 90 percent of the farming population in my country. The adoption of technology is vital for increased yields, sustainable farming and the attainment of food security in Africa. The central challenge is cost, illiteracy, extremely poor governance and corruption.

It is incredible how massive AI can be!!! People still do have their doubts on it but I believe with some time success will be in reach. I can't wait for the upcoming improvements on artificial intelligence☝️📈 and also new ways of using it for good 👍🔥
