When international borders shut it not only kept out a global health pandemic but the main income earner for up to eighty percent of Milne Bay people who survive on tourism activities.
The Land of the Unexpected, the tagline synonymous with tourism promotion in PNG. Up until March 2020 when COVID-19 and its domino effect shut down the public service, the economy and industries.
Most severely hit in Milne Bay was tourism. Alotau, we found to be bursting with creativity and what makes this place so special.
