This song approaches a topic that is a huge problem in the lgbt community. I’m a bisexual woman. When I was a teenager I was the first out person in my middle school. (I’m 18 now so ig this wasn’t even that long ago). As highschool came along people still weren’t coming out. After my first relationship I started dating again around 15. I was mainly courted by people who were in their twenties, but it is like there was no one else. It was just an age right? Those women who wanted me knew I was 15 when they were twenty three. Things weren’t right but I was blind by the idea of loving someone. I think the way troye portrayed this song was the most accurate way. He basically used the beautiful melody and sinister lyrics to portray the sickening feeling you get looking back at what happened all while portraying the emotion of how it feels to be loved and all in a matter of a few minutes. Troye is a musical genius

*This is my last week of being seventeen. I'm so sad so I decided leave this note as a permanent memory. However old I will be, when I listen to this song I can look for my comment and remember I was seventeen.*

On my seventeenth birthday I kissed my boyfriend for the first time. Now, 7 years later, he is my husband.

BLOOM IS ONE OF THE BEST ALBUMS OF 2018. FIGHT ME.

For anyone scared of being 17 turning 18. You may not be a minor anymore but you’re still a teenager. Trust me you may think everyone is going to treat you like you’re an adult but not everyone is because you’re still a teenager. 18-19 can still be immature and have their playful, teenage tendencies because that’s what they still are. After 19 is when you’re a full grown adult. So don’t sweat it.

How is it that his lyrics are always so relatable and touching?

The whole album is about having sex in different contexts and moments

For some reason "boy becomes a man now, can't tell a man to slow down, he'll do whatever he wants" gives me chills

If only I could've been 17 permanently. That was my favourite number. Now, I'm 22 and I feel old. I get the impression though that this song is based on Troye's past from when he was manipulated into a relationship with an older man. I feel so bad for him, but he's strong deep down and I'm so proud of how open he is now about his life and his dreams of being a singer.

I'm torn between this song being catchy and worrying how old his paramour was. Not to mention the "Can't tell a man to slow down. He'll just do whatever he wants." Sounding real rape-y.

*I'm going to turn eighteen in two hours...These are my last hours being seventeen. There were so many ups and downs with college and friends...and a nonexistent love life. But I'll cherish every moment of it. Seventeen years have made me who I am now. I need to learn to love myself and be comfortable with who I am. It's crazy to think I'll be an adult soon even though I know it's not like my entire life is going to change overnight. I'm filled with trepidation but also a sense of anticipation for what's to come. Seventeen is comprised of insecurities but also growth and support. It has been a time of uncertainty, and I greatly feared failure, yet I also felt like there were always second chances. What's more important now that I'm growing older is to take those second chances and not be afraid anymore. I shouldn't give up on them, and I shouldn't care about what others think of me. Sure, it's easier said than done, but I'll keep trying nonetheless. Goodbye Seventeen...It has been a good time.*

eventhough the lyrics/context is kind of sad it's probably my favourite song of the album

I think a lot of people don’t get how sad this song is :(( it’s literally about being taken advantage of at a young age

I don't know why, but every year when my birthday comes near, I search songs about my age or just with the number of my age as its name...
This year is Seventeen by Troye Sivan and Seventeen by Alessia Cara, I get so emotional thinking about how fast my life has passed, I still remember the times where I was a child...good times that will never come back.

Here I am, typing this comment at 12:08 on my 18th birthday, wondering how my childhood went by so quickly... Cherish your time as a kid, those moments and memories are fleeting <3
