WXXA 5pm News Open (August 11, 2011)

The beginning of the 5:00 news on Fox affiliate WXXA-TV (channel 23) in Albany, NY. WXXA at this point aired morning news, 5pm news, and a long block of news at 10 and 11.

John Gray and Walt McClure are the news personalities here, with the former at the anchor desk. The top stories are all crime-related, typical Fox station content. Among them are a story on a guy killing people at GlobalFoundries, a business headquartered in the 518. John Gray went to WTEN amid the merger, while McClure came to WXXA from WTEN.

The news open and graphics were approaching 3 years old at the time and were WXXA's last on-air look before merging with WTEN some 10 years ago. John Guidry is the voiceover and the Fox Affiliate News Theme (which sounded awful even for 2011) is heard here. What I find odd is they didn't bother using graphics from Hothaus Creative, because most of their sister stations did that!
