Poisonous toads overrun Florida neighborhood

My next door neighbor's kids have AR15s and like to hunt those toads at night. Sometimes I'm unable to sleep due to all the gunfire but at least I know those boys are making it safer for all the dogs in the neighborhood.

My 20lb dog caught one and quickly spit it out. He immediately started foaming and throat started to swell. I rushed him into the shower and rinsed out his mouth. Thank God the swelling stopped and he started breathing normally. Scared the crap out of me.

Let me clear this up, they are cane toads. I mainly see them in spring, here is a solution. Fiddler crabs eat the young, my fiddler ate 4 babies in a day.

I lost my dog to a Bufo toad and I declared war on them. I have a .30 Cal pellet rifle and go out at night during season to get rid of them. Quick humane kill, then disposal. Started 5 years ago and we have seen a major decrease of this invasive species.

I started by myself and now I have about 8 neighbors that have joined in. Mostly women believe it or not, who have lost dogs to this toad.

They're cane toads (Bufo marinus). They could potentially pose a significant ecological threat to the local ecosystem. They've been a huge issue in Australia for decades. These toads are native to Central and South America.

They have a breeding ground near by. I collect and remove them. If everybody did, they would be greatly diminished.

Our good old native toads are toxic as well. They will cause a dog to foam at the mouth and vomit; not near as dangerous though
