He had the Prime Time Players which consisted of a few cast members that would become Not Ready For Prime Time Players on NBC’s Saturday Night after Howard’s show was canceled. NBC actually paid ABC for the use of the Saturday Night Live title. Not very many people know this

It was on early Saturday evenings, and it was, in fact called "Saturday Night Live"
The would open with a chorus of people voiced over, repeatedly chanting, "Saturday Night Live; Live, Saturday Night"
