BR class 20 'Choppers' Top Wilpshire (08 Mar 2025)

Two LSL class 20s hauled the SRPS railtour, "The Seven Counties Rambler" as it headed up to and over the summit of Wilpshire bank. The SRPS locomotive 37 403 Isle of Mull was on rear.

It was an untypical afternoon for early March, the temperature was a staggering 17.5C and at around 14.00 the sun shone directly down the length of the cutting which can be a tricky and shadowy location later in the year.

The exhaust plumes from the class 20s indicate the work required to climb the steep bank.

Nice job and nice day for it too. I was just on the station, planned to go to Langho bailed on that but with it running early!

Nice shot! I saw them at Ramsgreave myself and hen raced to Cherry Tree. AND BEAT THEM. I’ll give you a mention in my video. Not sure if you heard my dad's whistle again though!
