The beauty of recycling water.

Показать описание
Since there is no sewer system at our off-grid homestead, we have to come up with creative ways to dispose of dirty water.
Greywater is the used water that comes from the sink and shower. Because it often contains lots of nutrients, it is perfect for watering the plants.
Here in the desert, where it can reach over 100 degrees and we pay to have water hauled to our tanks, we don’t waste a single drop.
I honestly believe the nutrients in this greywater have been helping the plants more than straight water from the well or the rain. (Still, all three are good!)
There’s something to be said about our part as humans in this beautiful ecosystem. As much as we can inflict negative damage in and to the world, we can also produce positive results.
It’s really just a matter of taking things as they come and adapting—mindfully—to the environment.
It makes me think of us as warring ant colonies 😅 Some of us believe in entities like Nestle, which extracts water from this region and sells it back for profit. Others believe in the power of giving water back to the earth, not only feeding the trees but raising the water table.
An intricate game of chess.
If you’ve used the water at our glamping tiny house, know that your presence has not been forgotten. It has soaked into the soil, where the land remembers—and always will.

(While editing this, our chickens—Chiki and Rikki—kept trying to come inside the bus. Little M’s job was to chase them out. Looks like the birds have made themselves quite at home.)
