The cafe & coffee scene in Japan is incredible, I am OBSESSED ✨ Any other coffee/cafe lovers out there?? 😍
If you don't believe me... Tokyo actually JUST ranked as the world's 2nd best city for coffeee!! (with Sydney my hometown right behind in 3rd place) ☕

Love japanese cafes. Quiet and chill and not a competiton to have the loudest conversation in the place like it can be here

When an Aussie girl gives comments on coffee shops, she automatically deserves trust😉 Australia was definitely one of the greatest coffee countries out there. We indulged ourselves with four coffees per day at a minimum when we travelled to Australia earlier this year. Now I'm so ready for our upcoming trip to Kyoto/Osaka next month!

The school bus place with the savory breads looked delicious.

Oat milk may enhance the coffee flavour because unlike cow's milk which may have a high fat concentration, it is carbohydrate/sugar based and thus contrasts the coffee nicely. In Italy drinking coffee with a little bit of sugar is recommended

2 mins in and I had to pause so I could make a stovetop coffee to accompany my viewing. Comfiest vid on youtube right now. Weekender is my kinda spot.

I stayed in the APA across from Kurasu when I was in Kyoto, some of the best espresso I had in Japan. I met a lovely gentleman there named Kokoro who was a tour guide having a break. He was learning German in the cafe, while speaking to me in English, as well as Japanese I don't doubt he knew some other languages too. An impressive chap, and one of my favorite conversations while visiting.

As an American, I'm shocked at the school bus cafe. I didn't know something so smelly and awful as a school bus would be so loved. Made me wonder how much American inspiration there is in Japan. I hear it's a lot. But I love the spots you showed us! Perfect to have with my own coffee and breakfast this morning. I'm jealous of how thick that toasted bread is. I love good bread so I follow you for those recs. I'm glad you don't try to hide that about yourself. Japanese bread does seem wonderful. I love Columbian coffee, so I wish I knew what that one you tried was. Like the exact profile. Fruity sounds nice. I don't like bitter coffee either. That map at Blue Bottle seems helpful for tourists. Loved the hand drawn and English translations in Sarasa cafe.

We welcome you in Kyoto where I'm living. This video is so fun even for us living in the city. Next time, you are invited to stop by Cafe Soiree near Shijo-Kiyamachi. The cafe has a very long history and a unique fantastic classical atmosphere probably you can't find it any other else. I believe you would love it!

Thank you for your recommendations Sarah!

On my recent trip to Kyoto I visited 2 of the coffee shops you listed. I went to SCHOOL BUS COFFEE for breakfast and the French toasts there were one of the best I had ever had in my entire life! Though the waiting time was awful, I waited 30 minutes outside and then like 40 more inside. Also I visited +7T, tried their matcha latte and bought 2 packets to bring home! Their matcha was delicious.
