I'm Flemish, which is an ethnic group that descents from the Salian Franks, so I always like learning about my ancestors. Thanks!

The artwork with their equipment, see the individual pieces that make up the helmet, love it.
I can't remember where I heard it, forgive me, but the idea the the axes would bounce a little bit off hard ground or shields further back. Adding a bit of chaos the enemy formation before closing in. Made sense to me, if they only had one and would get stuck in right after.

Good video, covers some stuff about them that i haven't seen others do a lot. A lot of videos start at the conversion of Clovis, but don't talk a lot about before that.

Archaeologist here: this is perhaps the best video on early Merovingian history and archaeology so far, by far. The MS Paint graphics also grew on me. You cited several books, all named 'The Merovingians' - which would you say is the best and most encompassing book on the subject?

I am descended from two French Knights, Sir Galindo de Salazar (french Aigoland)and his brother Sir Gaston de Salazar. These 2 were grandsons of the famous EUDON, who was Duke of Aquitaine, a vast area in S.W France. If we choose to favour this path then the history of the family goes back to the year 425 A.D when Faramundo King of the FRANCS died. He is supposed to be the Salazars utteremost ancestor, and was suceeded by an uninterupted series of 7 generations of monarchs: CLODIO, MORAVES, CHILDERICO, CLODOVEO, CLOTARIO I, CHILPERICO I, & CLOTARIO II, to CARIBERTO (646 A.D) brother of DAGOBERTO I and grandfather of the aforementioned EUDON, Duke of Aquitaine. I also share a common European ancestor King Charlemagne. It's said that he is actually related to everyone in Europe today 😂

Maybe someone can help me. What was the true Coat of Arms of the Merovingians?
The Bees? The Frogs or the Fleur-de-lis?

Seems like people still can't make their mind

No ties with Troy? Id argue differently as the Germanic people at the time of Troy were near the Black sea and could have had contact with Troy. Take their myths. The theft of Idunn and her golden apples by Loki is reminiscent of the Theft of Helen of Troy and the Golden Apple of Discord left by the goddess Discordia. Is Loki not a god of Discord? Then there is the death of the Golden Baldur by an Arrow, mirror Achilles and his Golden Armor and him dying by an Arrow. The Germanic people from the time of the Kurgan likely had some interaction as coming from the homeland of the Proto Indo European people. Meaning, a lot of their gods were already linked before many of their later civilizations formed. Like the Sky Father myth and Dyeus making it in as Zeus, Deus, Jupiter from Zeus Peter, and Tyr or Tiw in Germanic cultures. There are others like Eos, Eastre, Aurora, etc and her son Eosphorus, Aurvandil, Earendel, Lucifer. Stop treating the Germans as disconnected from Europe and its other peoples.
