Imagine its a nice day you are out walking the dog, then an F-15 drop tank from 50, 000ft lands on your head.

Real pilot here. I think you probably already know this but the most efficient climb parameters for a plane is called Vy. The F15should have this parameter set like any other plane. Vy is basicaly the best airspeed where you can climb the most in the least amount of time and its always calculated by the manufacturer. Vx on the other hand is the airspeed where you can climb the steepest, traveling the least amount of horizontal space at the expense of rate of climb and efficiency, usefull for dogging obstacles close to the runway with high AoA. The angle at which you climb is not actualy important for Vy though, you just hold the angle of climb that allows you to maintain Vy at your given power setting, the important part is to hold the optimum climb speed.

for the max performance climb: accelerate to ~0.9 mach
pitch up to maintain 0.9 at max power till your at 35, 000 feet.
then you can accelerate above mach 1.2 and climb to 45, 000 feet while continuing to accelerate.

while doing this, you should expect to be roughly 30° nose up and slowly lowering to nose as you climb

using this you can routinely climb to 30, 000 feet in about 1.5 mins.

as far as i know this is the fastest method to climb in the F15

"Ugh! Rough landing..."

Yeah, I noticed how the video cuts abruptly before the crew chief standing at the hanger comes into view. I imagine he didn't look pleased.

I love this format of videos, along with your story-focused missions.

The scary thing is that in real life, Eagles don't fly alone- they fly in a WALL of Eagles!

"Like an airliner" he says, 28 degrees nose up 😂 That would be a fun trip!

Good show. I have never seen a high altitude flight over an intense storm at sea. FA-18E or (D) protecting the fleet. The tops of the storm should be about 35, 000 feet (10, 668 meters)

This is a great showcase for how deadly the Eurofighter is going to be. That jet sits at 50, 000 feet like it’s nothing, and won’t struggle to get to Mach 1.5 or grater at these altitudes.

I flew the F15 A model, procedures may have changed, but this is how we did our fast climbs. Full blower, accelerate to 400 kts, climb at 400 kts til you hit .9 Mach, maintain .9 Mach to altitude, then accelerate to whatever speed you like. We would hit 42000 feet in about a minute in a clean A model.

Love the complete mission, from roll to landing. Great stuff!

Every time you and GS jettison the fuel tanks, I think of some lonely guy fishing on a small little boat and getting nailed by those tanks.

Years ago I read the in an F4 there was little difference in fuel burn for a max performance climb and a cruise style climb to 45K. However the difference was in the cruise climb, you were 500 miles away from your initial point.
