DMAIC is the acronym for Define, Measure, Analyse, Improve and Control.

The DMAIC is a structured problem-solving method used in Lean (and also Six Sigma) that is applied in the business world for improving processes. It offers a thematic approach of solving problems in processes up to and including the solutions and certainty. Thematically, this method has a clear beginning (Define) and an ending (Control).

By continually conducting different DMAIC projects widely in the organisation and working with different participants in the improvement teams, a continuous improvement culture will be created.

Since an organisation with a continuous improvement culture strives for perfection and believes that there is always something that can be improved, multiple DMAIC improvement projects may follow each other or happen in parallel.
