National policy for domestic workers
Domestic workers are those people who works within the employers household such as cooking, laundry and irony etc.There is no separate law for domestic workers
so Ministry of labor and employment drafting a policy on domestic workers because they are very large in number and facing lot of problems such as improper wages, physical assault, overtime, sexual harassment etc.
Salient feature of bill:-
1.Inclusion of domestic workers in existing legislation
2.They have right to register as unorganized workers so that they can access to their rights.
3.Right to form their own associations
4.Right to min wages and access to social security
5.Skill improvement
6.Access to courts and tribunals
Other existing measures:-
1. Unorganized workers social security act, 2008
2. Initiatives by state govt.
