Ok so like ima try and explain the story.
The guy is an overworked scientist on his computer all the time, he is a loner, no one talks to him, that’s why he has zero messages.
He accepts the computers love because he wants to feel love too, but as time goes on the computer grows jealous of the simple things he cannot do, eat, run, sleep, and this breaks him.
He did love the scientist, but his yearning for autonomy(control of his own body basically) outweighed his love for the scientist.
In the end, it was the scientist that needed a humans touch, not the computer.

I love this animatic so much. This introduced me to the song which means now this is forever ingrained with the song. I love you, concept of a programmer unhealthily obsessed with a digital companion bc it's their only thing they have... you will always be famous.... I LOVE OBSESSIVE UNHEALTHY LOVE ESPECIALLY WHEN IT'S UNRECIPROCATEDDDD.... I LOVE PAIN I LOVE POWER IMBALANCES I LOVE GREY AREAS AND UNRELIABLE NARRATORS THAT SWAY THE IDEA OF WHO'S AT THE WHIM OF THE POWER
I saw this b4 u put the explanation, i love thinking that the power imbalance is ultimately void bc computers and humans can be considered equal, but these guys could never be together because of their different, consuming needs (the person- deep need for loveee, and the computer- self sufficiency). I do like to think, with the computer's body finished, the power imbalance LOOKS like it's in the computer's favor, but its really still equal. Bc the computer can act for itself now... but. Who knows if it can fix itself? The computer may say it doesn't need the person anymore, but ... there's a vague implication that it could come crawling back out of necessity. Which. As a metaphor you could go either way with who that gives power too, depending on how the programmer reacts to that.
Etc etc im just saying everything thats obvious bc I have a personal stake in this metaphor (im both the programmer and the computer but im the programmer consciously and the computer subconsciously) and I'm crazy. Thank u for making this, not only have u introduced me to a KILLLEERRRR sing, but this animatic is gass i love the art and the deep emotion. Hooray!!!
