On Thursday, May 26, 2022 WTTW hosted a special virtual screening and conversation in association with the FIRSTHAND: Segregation project, in recognition of Asian American and Pacific Islander Heritage Month. FIRSTHAND Executive Producer Dan Protess moderated a live conversation with Lisa Yun Lee, Executive Director of the National Public Housing Museum; Chris Javier, Leader of the Chinese Christian Union Church; Ann Kalayil, Founder and Board Chair of the South Asian American Policy and Research Institute; and Seong Cho, Organizing Director of Asian Americans Advancing Justice. The panel explored the unique ways in which Chicago’s Asian communities have carved out spaces of safety and resistance in the face of discrimination.
