He was not supposed to be named monkey kong, they used the word donkey as a synonym for dumb and stubborn, without knowing donkeys were also animals

Kirby was gonna be Twinkle Popo (as said at the bottom), and DK wasn't gonna be called Monkey Kong—Miyamoto thought western audiences would get "stubborn" from "Donkey" and of course ape from "Kong".

Kirby's intended name, Tinkie PoPo was also called "PoPoPo" for short. In a Nintendo Power magazine where Kirby's Dream Land was said to be introduced in North America, a capture of the gameplay showed the name PoPoPo at the very bottom of the image, probably they forgot to rename it before publishing.

The sequalae to the name still remains to this day And I think you already guessed what it is: King Dee-Dee-Dee. (sorry if I say it wrong)

I recently found out that waluigis REAL name is jimmy popadopolis. He was an actor or something along those lines and legally changed his name to waluigi when he worked with wario. I think its pretty funny, but i dont know if waluigi is an upgrade or a downgrade from jimmy popadopolis.
