This is the only business where a professional tries so hard to help you avoid owing him money.

Dave, my father was a mechanic, as am I. He taught me so much and would pass-on his knowledge to anyone who was interested. You remind me of him. God bless you and be well.

The more of your videos I watch the more I want to keep all my late 90s vehicles running as long as possible. I absolutely dread buying one of these new disposable cars.

"low speed pre ignition" That must have been what happened to me when I got out of bed too fast without waking up first this morning😅

Thanks for this information. Was in the automotive aftermarket business for 44 years and never had anyone explain this to me. Your the best Dave!

My father told me to keep my foot out of a cold engine. True then and true now.

Yup. Stochastic pre-ignition. The correct oil is even more important when the engine is older and the oil control ring is allowing some leaking back into the combustion chamber. Think of it as knock that happens between the cylinder wall and the piston head. Exactly the type of force a piston is not designed to handle. Good videos you do.

I live in Texas a long way from Dave's shop, but I will definitely be taking my car there when I need a new motor. He is my first choice for motors, and Precision Transmission in Amarillo TX is my first choice for tranmissions. Just like Dave's channel, they explain transmissions in detail. I have learned so much from all these wonderful people.

Hello Dave: Thank you for this short video. I've been working on cars for 63 years, & I never heard of this until I saw your video. Dave you spiked my curiosity so much that I spent a lot of time researching this condition. Thank you again & God Bless. TMP from N.J.

This guy is like the only true professional I’ve ever seen be able to really understand these big diesel trucks, especially the Fords. Right on bro 😎

As a fairly experienced technician, dont listen to this video at all. Listen to all of his videos instead. This man speaks some pretty cool and advanced knowledge for free. I just learned something from this one specifically lol.

David, I enjoy watching your videos because at my age of 62 year's old I'm still learning about all vehicles and the good and bad things that you guys have to deal with everyday and I'm always learning something new all the time and thank you for sharing this video and all of your other videos and thanks for sharing

My GR Corolla has a direct & port injected 3 cylinder. Its a small, high compression engine with 25 psi max turbo boost. It has a big ass warning on the digital gauge cluster to limit acceleration until it is warmed up. Clears warning at about 130F oil temp but I wait until 175F for harder acceleration. Probably a good warning for all cars to have since most people don't think about letting it properly warm up.
