This day, approaches to APIs and communications with remote services are changing rapidly. GraphQL seems to come as a fancier and universal alternative for long-praised REST, while some are still using SOAP, and others are experimenting with binary and strongly typed protocols. In this talk, we'll go through query languages and API standards used by world's most famous open services, like Wikipedia and OpenStreetMap, and see the lessons those large and established projects teach us about their design choices.
