Fun fact that man was so confident that lemon juice would make his face invisible that when he was shown the security footage of the bank he insisted that it was edited as it could not possibly be real

Imagine you make a plan so stupid that it drives two psychologists to make an entire study on why exactly anyone would consider it was a good idea.

What if you’re confident and then imposter syndrome kicks in with maybe you’re too confident and it’s the Dunning Kruger is this just schrödinger’s confidence

“But I wore the juice…”

— actual quote by Wheeler upon getting discovered along with a good kick like “It’s ok. I actually have a face. It’s just invisible. Now put the money in the bag.”

The (heavily simplified) explanation for why this happens is that people who are uneducated about a topic generally don't know how much there is to know, so they assumed that they've got it down. People who know a lot about a topic are generally much more aware of the scope, so they are constantly aware of everything they don't know.

Start a career in programming or IT and you’ll get to experience both, simultaneously, as you oscillate wildly between the two.

God I fucking hate imposter syndrome it hurts so bad. Because you know you're bullshitting yourself, that you're selling yourself short, but you just can't be rational about it as hard as you try to just push through.

But has anyone noticed the people most able to be described as embodying the Dunning-Kruger effect are also the most likely to immedietely or generally use it as an attack on others?

Fun Fact: when interrogating McArthur, he said, and I quote, “But I put on the juice.”
