Are You Still Using Agave Syrup? #shorts

Agave syrup isn’t as healthy as you might think it is, just because it’s “natural.”

If you’re not experiencing any chronic health issue, I recommend using sweeteners like real maple syrup, unprocessed honey, and monk fruit because they are nutritious and tend to be sweeter than table sugar so you don’t need as much.  We also favor them because they contain nutrients that artificial or zero calorie sweeteners do not.

Remember to keep in mind that just because these sweeteners a bit better for you, it doesn’t give you free license to eat high amounts of these two without it affecting your health.

And yet in the Blood Sugar book I have on my shelf, The New Glucose Revolution, the charts in the back pages list common foods and the glycemic scale for each. The glycemic "index" determines how quickly the sugar from the food enters your blood stream, but even more important to your internal blood sugar regulation, it measures the glycemic "load" of each food as well. (Glycemic load, the book says, is a more important consideration than the initial glycemic reaction, i.e., how slow or quickly the natural sugar from a particular food enters your bloodstream.) Well, guess what? Agave syrup is listed as a very low "10" on the glycemic scale. And, as for the glycemic "load", it registers as the lowest possible number: 1!
Fructose itself is listed on the LOW glycemic index scale. I can't figure out for the life of me how the good Doctor could get this subject so absolutely WRONG! It really makes me question now his other media declarations and postings.

OMG... Never knew that. I started using it as a sugar replacement in my coffee because it supposedly does not cause a sugar spike. I use organic only, so there's no chemicals.

One thing to keep in mind is never trust a guy who can post yet not respond to a single person listening too commenting

An occasional margarita with a little agave is staying on the menu. No fake mixers though.

I can't understand how the same exact FRUCTOSE in fruit is horrible in Agave syrup? The only difference that could possibly be in play is the mitigating effect of dietary FIBER! So...how about using Agave syrup in natural, whole grain flour cookies, muffins, or cakes!!?
Another thing....sugar naturally found in bananas is half fructose and half SUCROSE. Correct me if I'm wrong about that. So...why is it always that sucrose is bad, bad, bad?

Stevia or monk fruit are supposedly better but I prefer to replace the craving for sweet with bitters.

So then what about pure organic honey?

lesson learned. just consume regular high fructose corn syrup and highly processed sugar. its all the same

Even if it’s raw and organic, it’s produced with toxic chemicals? Which ones please?

I use both local and raw honey. Also.. apples, pears, carrots also sweeten. Maple syrup is lower on glycemic index and has vitamins & minerals in it

I knew it!!! I used that stuff for quite a while thinking it was so much better for me than sugar in my coffee… don’t it is delicious, I loved the way it made my coffee taste, I used it recipes etc. I used it to completely replace sugar. Then I was diagnosed with type 2 diabetes. Weird thing is I had no high blood sugar readings before that. My mother in law was type 2 and would test my blood from time to time as well as at my yearly physical, Never had a high reading.
I’ve been thinking over the past few years that that agave syrup did me in. 😢😢😢

So why not just supplement with a fibre intake when consuming, so long as the agave is cold pressed or not toxically processed?
