THE BITS! THEY'RE TOO QUICK!

Riley was thermal throttling at 3:50 and 6:20 because of them!

Maybe the real indie games were the friends and memories we made along the way.

Indie *used to mean* self publishing (not having a publisher). In itself, it's not a hard definition to understand. The problem is that there was never a good term for "everything else that is not AAA": "double A" carries some expectations (relatively high quality visuals and production quality), and all the other games were in a weird bag of "smaller titles". So, the term indie was pretty much "stolen" for that, and it's becoming pretty much meaningless in terms of expectations.

Keighley saying that it's hard to say what applies to the award category that they made up and set the rules to is the peak representation of any awards. As in, we made the category and all the rules, but it so hard to define the category (even though they have the every option to do so - it's their award show). So let's just don't do any of it.

EA wants you to voice in-game main chars / protagonist so they can avoid pay the person to do voice over for the in-game characters or protagonist, thus increasing overall profit

I mean that does raise an interesting question: if a AA mega-corp hires/funds a small dev, gives them a small team with a shoestring budget to bring their original idea to life, DOES that count as a indie game? Alternative reading: can AAA devs buy indie game status if they keep their corporate, controlling hands off the actual development.

Riley, you make the subtle/not-subtle creeping dystopia of the games industry so much more pleasant to hear about.

From my understanding, Dave the Diver would be a AA game. AAA being large companies like Nintendo, Ubisoft, or in this case Nexon, Indie, or A game's being from small or semi-large studios like Among Us, Minecraft (When Mojang was independent before Microsoft bought them), and Doki Doki Literature club, and AA games being games made by an indie or smaller studio with the funding and/or additional manpower of a larger one, which Dave the Diver falls into.

people were thirsting for Ganon even when the only form that was revealed was the Skeleton in the teaser.

If I need a good chuckle for the day I love to watch any of the video's with Riley, his quips are amazing. Keep doing what you're doing.

Just because Gannon is bad guy, don't mean he's a bad guy.

That fake loading/pause screen at 3:50 almost got me! Or was editor slacking?

Its hard to truly decide what is what. But i do consider if the developers or creators are indipendent from any big company, they deserve to be called indie. Community funded or loans from bigger companies, can probably also be considered indie, as long as they are not attached to said company. So Dave the Diver is not an indie game, because the dev team is under Nexon, and not a small group borrowing funding from Nexon. No Man Sky is indie, they took both community funds and sponsorship from Sony, but they themselves are not working for Sony.

the reason, I buy physical games is because, I didn't have unlimited fast internet. Now I have one, I don't shy away from considering to buy a digital version of console. I guess more people would buy digital games if the tech is provided to them cost effectively.

I feel like most people just go "small team, small budget = indie"
