“Coming to the U.S. on a whim, with no plan whatsoever, a lot of people were telling me not to go,” said Fatma, a recent graduate of SNHU’s master’s in clinical mental health counseling program. “And I’m just happy that I did it.”

Today, Salem Pease serves as an inspiration to her nieces and young girls in Tunisia who sometimes reach out to her on social media. She hopes her story inspires them to go against the grain and chase their dreams.

Fatma says that her years studying at SNHU have taught her a lot of self-compassion. “SNHU gave me the confidence to seek out what I know deep down I can achieve,” she explained.

Congratulations Fatma from a fellow SNHU BSN student and an Iraqi native. The Arab American community is very proud of you.
