The Regional Municipality of Wood Buffalo has lifted the evacuation order for the residents of several communities in Fort McMurray, Alta., who were forced to leave their homes earlier this week due to the threat of wildfire. The RMWB also lifted the state of local emergency as of 10:30 a.m. Saturday.

About 6,600 residents of Abasand, Beacon Hill, Grayling Terrace and Prairie Creek were forced to flee their homes on Tuesday afternoon due to the out-of-control wildfire, which measured 19,582 hectares as of Saturday.

To date, 327 wildfires have been recorded in the Forest Protection Area. Of those, one is classified as out-of-control, two are classified as being held, 17 are under control, three have been turned over and 304 are extinguished. Around 28,835 hectares have been burned since Jan. 1, wildfire officials said.

Global's Erik Bay has the details.

I always wondered whether a sizeable amount of "wildfires" are intentional arson. There should be a drone fleet overflying roads, in areas in which the "wildfires" usually start, because they usually start in the same areas. I'm willing to acknowledge natural wildfires from lightning strikes, etc. But, I think there are people starting some of these. Start monitoring these areas, looking for where these fires start. Something is off.

A few days ago the media puppets said there would not be enough rain to help much.

Fear propagation - there is NO WAY the forest grew back that fast. Does everybody forget the whole thing burned down?

I hope Ft. Mac gets a week of soggy weather. Not torrential rain but a slow steady rain that goes on for days.

Clear cut the perimeter and have the brush removed. Then again, I suppose rebuilding the city every decade is cheaper.

I’m shure its because of the hard working woken women at the microphone and nothing to do with the men doing 99% of the work.
