The way companies account for their carbon emissions drives the strategies and activities they undertake to address them. Today’s leading carbon accounting standard, the Greenhouse Gas Protocol (GHGP), is used by thousands of companies across the world. The GHGP’s Scope 2 Guidance has facilitated growing voluntary markets for clean energy, but its inaccuracies have also led to criticisms of greenwashing. The solution is not to get rid of market-based accounting, but to modernize it to make it more accurate and therefore drive greater decarbonization impact. Come to learn from experts about the importance of Scope 2 carbon accounting and how it can be modernized in this critical decade for decarbonization.

Speakers:
Katherine Dixon (Expert Partner, Bain & Company)
Wilson Ricks (Assistant professor and macro-scale energy systems engineer, Princeton University)
Killian Daly (Executive Director, EnergyTag)
Ciril Wakounig (Policy Analyst, Electricity Maps)
