I too would be interested in learning more about the Ripple wind farm...

That is one of the best graphics of a complete setup I have seen. Very nice.

Interesting video John, I would be interested in learning more about the Ripple wind farm.

I'm looking into options to get rid of gas. Some of the Panasonic air to air systems have an scop of 5.2 which looks good. Also octopus are installing heat pumps so I am on the list for an assessment. Suspect the cost to change currently is likely to be too high but will know more in due course.

I would love to know more about the wind farm. Thank you

Hi John, Thanks for sharing your info, reminded me I need to do my stats. In March we had 566.2kWh generated compared with 406.2kWh in '21, 535kWh in '20 and 455kWh in '19. So, happy this March and looking at 1st qtr only this was our best 1st qtr (by 1kWh!). Other changes MVHR system installed and although not directly relevant joined the new Ripple offer.

Hi John,
I live in MK and have a 3.6KW solar install with a sunnyboy, is it easy enough to add another system without loosing your original feed in tariff?
I also have all the myenergie hardware from watching your videos, good tip about heating the water in the 12.30 - 4.30 5ppKW rate, thanks. Our gas boiler is now off !

Also really interested in the ripple wind farm.

Thanks

Cheers for the video John, looking forward to hear more about your ripple investment, and how it’s going for you.

Hi John a good update on things. My 4kw array with the 3.6 grid tie inverter generated 411.7 kwh according to the app the generation meter registered 407.81kwh (Sileby Leicestershire). The array is SSE facing. Also I have joined the Ripple Kirk Hill wind farm to help with the winter side of Solar.

Hi John. Thanks again for another update.
We generated 407kwh on our 4.4kwp south facing array in Lancashire for our first March. That's a daily average of 13.02kwh/day. We managed to only export 19.09kwh but had to import 693kwh over that period. We have upped our Electricity usage as now we have joined GO, and given the cost increase to gas we have been heating water via electric at the cheap rate rather than via our very old, inefficient Gas Back Boiler. I'm hoping to get an Eddi sooner rather than later to help with this too!
Our best day was the 19th with 22kwh and our worst was the 3rd with only 2.1kwh.
Was great to hear about your experience with Ripple. I had looked into Ripple before getting solar but had decided I would go down the solar route first.

HI John, an improvement and a lot closer this month with my E/W roof and solar PV panels totalling 7.56kWh on each side. This gave 544kWh for March, so 72kWh/p. 48% self powered according to my Tesla Powerwall, but this has dropped as my ASHP has been working since end of February, so 1st full month! I have also invested in the latest Ripple Energy at Kirk Hill. You are on a good tariff for electricity at the moment, hope it doesn't run out too soon. I am just in process of moving to Octopus Energy Tesla Energy Plan as my fixed was going to expire in November and I didn't want to risk 1st winter with an ASHP on a whatever the cost will be tariff later this year! I had exactly the same thoughts in adding an extra Powerwall in that it was a waste for 6 months of the year. This ASHP question of amount of use is a big unknown! So far on non sunny cold days, below 5c, seemed to average around 25kWh for heating my 5 bed home and the hot water. These later cold but sunny daysit has been great heating the home from solar PV!!

Great video John. My March totals were 1.24 MWh here in Victoria BC. That leaves me with a monthly bill of 6.72 CDN with hopes of building up a big credit this summer as I am on a net metering plan. I will be converting our NG furnace to a heat pump over the next couple of months so it will be interesting on how that affects my base load (having two EV's - Kia eSoul and Kia eNero). Love to hear more about the Ripple wind farm as it sounds like a brilliant idea. Cheers

Nearby in Huntingdonshire, our "steep roof" SE facing 3.05 kWp array produced 313 kWh, a very respectable 102.6kWh/p. The shallow roof SW 3.92 kWp array produced 305 kWh, so only 77.8 standardised. March is usually the month when SW overtakes SE in kWh produced, but not this year.

Got a shock at 9:10 until I realised that you gave it wrong way round (again?). Thought you'd got the "Hummer version" at "5 kWh per mile"!

I asked my installer about a second Powerwall: he said, "If you order today, you'll get it (perhaps) in 11 months time"! And the price has gone up quite a lot rather than down as I had hoped.

Hi John, we are interested in investing in Ripple. Having trouble looking for your Ripple code, can you share again? Thanks

Thanks for the video. We managed 652 kWh from a SE facing 6.9 kWp array on the Wirral (UK) in March - much better. Our battery (9.6 kWh LG RESU d.c. coupled) has finally been commissioned so we are starting to see the benefit from that. We are not using Octopus Go at the moment as the EV is only charged from excess solar but we do use the Agile Export tariff which yielded a £73 credit in March which I was quite surprised about. Our Octopus electricity tariff is now 29.58p per kWh so we really need to minimise grid usage. Next job is to replace the hot water cylinder and add an Eddi to start reducing gas consumption.

Yeah, I echo the Ripple comments, I'm really interested in your experiences with this innovative scheme.

699.6 kWh from solar, 320.4 kWh net imported 8.96 array therefore 77% ratio. Consumed 1 MWh for the first time. Caused by the free supercharging falling away from my Tesla.

Hi John
Spalding Lincs return for our combined 4.3 kw system. Solar production for the month 446.07 a new record for the combined system and also for the original 3 kw part 339.1 against 322.5 in 2020. Consumption 307.4 with grid draw of 36 all at 5.5p, we swapped over to Self powered mode on the 6th March. 282 miles in the Enyaq with all charge from the sun but we still manages to let 127 kWh escape back to the grid. The best generation day was 22.9 on 19/03, the worst 2.0 on 04/03.

We are maxed out with our pv due to the roof size and limitations made by the DNO. We would be interested in a Ripple Energy production as we have looked but couldn’t really decide. Is it worth doing for us as we are relatively low users anyway even if our investment wouldn’t be that much?, both of us are now in our 60’s so is the 25 year production life of the wind farm relevant, do Octopus differentiate between the money earned from the wind farm being used to pay the gas bill?

I am sure other subscribers could come up with areas of interest too.

Thanks for another interesting monthly update.

We managed 100.58 kWh per kW installed from our 4.3kW south west facing array with an 8.2kW battery. Pretty much the same generation as you!
