Best Cars For College Students...Under $20k For Sure (2021)

Показать описание

There are a lot of cars in the world but the needs of a college student are very specific. Students need a practical, reliable, fuel-efficient, and most importantly a cool car. They need all these attributes for less than $10k which is a tall order.

Exhaust Sports Auto is an automotive review channel that focuses on the pragmatic side of cars. Most reviewers simply focus on spec sheets. But cars are more than just specs and Exhaust Sports Auto goes into the nuances of driving and what makes a car truly great for daily driving.

"Best cars for College students." Great clickbait photo. My kids are very deprived. No Bugatti Chiron for them. 😂

I agree with you about being careful of Florida, (Central & South Florida in particular) - I don’t know what it is, but I’ve noticed A LOT of scams there too!!

What about the Volvo S60 or Hyundai Sonata or Ford Fusion?

I agree with the vehicles you listed for the most part but I would not recommend a older BMW for someone on a budget.
The Solara is a good choice. I would even recommend a 1st generation Genesis and Hyundai Azera, Infiniti M35 for someone looking for a car with swag. If you are someone on a budget and want reliable transportation a Toyota Corolla is the way to go.

Funny cause this is a current search for me. None of the cars are in the baller class cause I know how kids don't take care of a ride: Camry, Corolla, Mazda3 & hatch, Frontier, and Fusion.

If I pay for it, I looked at maintenance, insurance, reliability, and no premium fuel.

20 year old college student and my first car is a 2011 Lexus LS460, bought it from my dad for $13, 000 a flagship luxury car with 380 HP that can park itself and I pay $250 a month for it... I know a couple of girls who drive brand new cars and they say my Lexus is nicer

Scion FRS/Toyota 86 or Subaru BRZ, preferably manual.
Every College student should learn to drive stick, especially because they will all be gone sooner than later.

Your pics were solid. No one could go wrong with a Honda Civic. I wish I still had my 93 Civic EX Coupe 5spd. The first year of the coupe and my first new car. It was love at first sight.

Surprised you didn’t mention the Acura ILX

I think a nice used Lexus CT 200h or Prius is perfect for reliability and low running costs. Maybe a VW Jetta if you are wanting space and something German

Regarding Craigslist I recall a few months back seeing a very clean 2005 Nissan Murano Limited 3.5 with 110K miles that looked to have been garaged in pristine condition in the city I live in (Grants Pass, OR) asking $4, 500K. I looked for similar model vehicles at dealers that were asking at least $2K more with more miles & in not as good condition. I think ppl resort to selling on Craigslist is Bcuz the trade in value the dealer will offer is crap. If you do your due diligence & have the car inspected by an experienced mechanic prior to buying on Craigslist should be common sense & thus avoid most major unforeseen mechanical

Hey Kevin, have you heard of a YT channel called "Curious Cars?" I'm a relatively new subscriber over there that I have found most of his content pretty interesting. The gentleman reviews vintage vehicles for the most part dating back to the 70s & 80s usually. Anyway, I recently purchased a 2000 Buick LaSabre from a dealer who had received the vehicle on a trade, It was a one owner in mint condition with only 115K miles, the only Issue I had encountered after bringing it home was an oil leak that I discovered on my driveway. It turned out to be the oil pan needed replacing, but given I only paid $2, 500 I can't really complain, I'm really happy with this vehicle. I watched a mechanic on YT raving about GM's 3800 V6 engine & I even learned that even Rolls Royce of all auto manufacturers was once upon a time using a GM engine Bcuz it was very smooth. Just thought I'd share that little bit of info which probably you & your subscribers find CHEERS!

I feel guilty from what you said about the ES 350 because my twin brother and I paid for and drive around in what used to be our parents’ ‘08 model as 19 y/o college students 😂

Anytime one of my friends ask me what to get when on a lower budget, I always say Toyota or Honda. Nothing else.

I lucked out on a 2017 Camry SE that was in a flood for about half the MSRP for that car ($13k) at an auction back in 2018
20k miles strong so far

I generally search used cars on carfax, so that I make sure the car is in decent shape like no accidents, personal use, etc..
