That taxi scam goes on in Vegas, too. They'll turn off the meter upon arrival and quote a higher price.

As an Egyptian I highlyyyy recommend being in a tour group or having an experienceed friend or have a trusted local every where

As an egyptian, I would like to tell you that whenever egyptians see a foreigner, they offer him like 10x of the actual price so be careful 😅

I went with some friends of mine, they happen to be Egyptian. Sometimes when they noticed they were western Egyptians the locals tried to higher the price, but then my friends immediately told them to behave and respect them as one of their own.

It doesn't matter what the taxi driver demands. Pay them what they quoted and get out of the car. The initial quote was already 4x more than they'd charge locals.

Ive heard the opposite with taking a local with you shopping. Alot of dudes work for certain stores and will take you to places where they ivercharge the hell out of you and the local gets some off the top for bringing you there

The scamming starts at the airport where they won't even accept their own currency for your visa stamp

The locals do it in all major tourist attractions.
