How to Update your New Passport with Immigration

If you receive a new passport, and you currently hold a visa (if you are onshore or offshore), you will need to update your passport with immigration. Your visa is simply assigned to your new passport electronically.

Good video... other sources suggested you had to physically send it in!
The layout in the Immi portal is a bit different - there's no menu on the left initially. You can expand your visa section on the right first, and then there is a small Update Details link beneath it once you expand the section. Or if you click the title of the visa you go into the next detail screen which has the menu on the left as you show on the video.Took me a moment to see it, so might be worth updating the vid or description

Hello All, I just went through the Immi Portal and followed the above steps. In my case it was a lost passport. I did not received the email straight away., I receieved it after 2 working days. Hope this helps :)

I don't see any "update details" tab in my immiaccount. Not sure why. I had updated my passport details through a form and they changed my name details but forgot to change my Passport number on VEVO. Can you suggest a next step please?

Hi Nick, great video! I am applying for a RRV for my kids. Their passports are different from when we first got their visas in 2012. When we apply for their RRVs, can we just apply with the new passports or will that trigger some kind of mismatch from the original application, etc? There does not seem to be any way to update their information online as when I log on, it is just my name etc.. Hope this make sense--thanks for your time! :)

Great video Nick, I am in a bit of Dilemma. PR 189 was granted using Egyptian passport while i was UK Permanent resident .Soon after i became British citizen, tried to update my passport, received email advising against linking my PR to UK passport as dual national to avoid difficulties travelling to Australia. I am however concerned because renewing my Egyptian passport will be prohibitively difficult given the length of time i have been away from the country. Been advised to use cancelled isntead of new/expired and that should go ok, any advise will be greatly appreciated
