The VR6 on the Jetta & Golf 4 were primarily a 2.8 V6 with a 15° angle allowing for a single valve cover/head. Their fireing order of 1-5-3-6-2-4 is what gives them that extra special exhaust note/engine rumble.

I had a MKIV GTI 12v VR6 and was involved in the VW community for many VW generations. Stock or when done right it's one of the best sounding 6 cylinders PERIOD. This one is loud and raspy instead of smooth and refined imo.

I have never heard something that sounds so different that actually sounds really neat

I like the body kit. Reminds me of the car scene in the early 2000s when I was in high school 😎

I own a 01 vr6 Jetta with 187k miles on it and still runs like a champ. The sound they produce really is amazing. Especially the manual ones

Makes me miss my Jetta VR6, not alot of knowledge and money back then but i did replace the stock muffler with a Magnaflow and deleted the resonator, definitely loved the sound 🔥

I don't get the turn down bit, surely all the sound will bypass the muffler & come out of the turn down?

The VR6 in whatever size is the best sounding 6 cylinder engine to my ears.

I am not familiar with this kind of setup but I am surprised. Not my cup of tea but it is not bad.

sounds good @wot under load, I'd try putting a vale on the turndown that stays closed under lighter loads (making it a j pipe) to help the low load sound

Cross between V6 and inline 6. You’ve got 6 staggered cylinders with one single head.

It almost resembles the WRX rumble sound. I guess is because the vr6 has 3 ports longer than the other 3.

That Y-Pipe idea is cool. Having the best of both worlds straight piped turn-down with a can muffler. You got your high tone mixed with a low tone at idle except when you open the throttle. Hmm, it has me thinking now. Time to do some experiments and use my decibel meter lol. Did anyone read about the new exhaust laws in NYC? It hurts both customers and businesses which is bs. If people want loud cars then let them have loud cars. I love this channel.

OK the 2001-2005 jetta comes with the alot engines or depends on region... first is the lowest model 2.0 aka 2. Slow 4 cylinder about 115bhp, second is 2.8l 12valve vr6 with make about 170bhp, third is the 24valve vr6 making about 200bhp but those engine have weak connected rod bolts, fourth is the 1.8t turbo first gen is a 4 cylinder making 150bhp and them the second gen 1.8t turbo making 180 bhp and finally ( I think) is the bora R with the 3.2 vr6 all wheel drive 240bhp I believe there's more but that basically the difference

Sounds much better than a infiniti and nissans V6 engine to be honest

I am curious about the y pipe and the turndown. Why is that done? What is trying to be accomplished?
