The Meghalaya Cabinet on Wednesday, the 17th of Feb, regularized the decision taken by the state government on Feb 16 regarding reduction of taxes of petrol and diesel in the state by Rs 5.
The cabinet also regularized the decision to increase the stamp duty by another 50 per cent in line with a court order which means, mining lease holders irrespective of whether they are Schedule Caste or Schedule Tribe, have to pay the 100 per cent for stamp duty.
The cabinet also amended the Fiscal Responsibility Budget Management Act 2006 to enable the state to borrow 5 per cent of overall GDP as debt from the Central government.
The cabinet also approved the appointment of 45 junior engineers for the PHE department to address the shortage of manpower in the implementation of the jal Jeevan Mission in Meghalaya.
