Composing Horror Music Using Only One Sound Challenge!

Know nothing about MIDI programming? Can't afford extensive sample libraries? Sometimes you need to get resourceful and use what you have.

Here, I recorded one single door creaking sound at my school's student union building, edited it with denoising, and manipulate it in Logic Pro X to make a 1-minute long horror soundtrack. For some purposes, using a single sound may be enough for the scene, while in others, you may need to layer it with other things. But here, I kept it plain and just used the door creak.

Don't skip the ending, cause I layer the final product with a clip from Insidious (2010) (I do not own this footage and it was used for educational purposes). I didn't make the track with this clip in mind so the few hit points used were just edited in post while syncing with the video in Final Cut.

I love Izotope's RX bundles... Really good stuff, especially when I sound design and record through a shitty mic 😂
