Close up how-to tie a Figure “8” follow through knot for rock climbing. This is part of our foundations sport rock climbing course for Level 1 climbers. This video introduces you to the correct technique for tying in with a figure-8 follow through knot. Climb safe!
The Figure 8 Follow Through is the standard knot climbers use for tying the rope to their harness. It can also be used to tie a rope around an object, such as a tree. It's strong, secure and easy to recognize when you've done it right (count the strands, see video!) There should be a tail of at least 6 inches (max 8 inches) at the end of the knot.
