Nasa aborts second launch attempt of Artemis Moon rocket - BBC News

US space agency Nasa has aborted its launch of the Artemis Moon rocket for a second time in a week after controllers discovered a leak in its hydrogen tank.

Engineers couldn't repair the issue in time to allow the launch to go ahead this weekend and will now look to Monday next week for a possible launch.

The first launch was postponed after controllers struggled to get an engine on the 100m-tall vehicle cooled down to its correct operating temperature.

The maiden flight, part of Nasa's Artemis programme, is just a demonstration with no one on board. But ever more complex missions are planned for the future that will see people live on the lunar surface for weeks at a time.

Welp. That’s _considerably_ better that the thing becoming the most expensive firework in history.

Sad to hear they missed the second launch window, but it's FAR better to delay a launch so that we don't waste BILLIONS! Way better in the long run.

People who have done nothing on Artemis project are disappointed. 🤔
People who are involved are relieved that they found the leak before it blew up on their heads.

No need to rush, be thorough and get it done right.

I drove up from South Florida to see the launch today, being born in the area (Cocoa Beach) and having watched s few Apollo launches, I am very familiar with launch delays, and knew there was only a small chance it would actually launch today, specially a new craft. So I didn't get to see the launch, but had a great time at the beach.

Anyway, I am happy NASA is finding these flaws ahead of time. everyone wants a successful mission, so another 3 days or another 3 months, the important thing is that everything goes up right.

Don't worry after 59 years we will eventually get to the moon.

Total congratulations for finding the leaks before lighting up the rockets.

To think 50 years ago, they flew PEOPLE to the moon, landing drove around in buggies, filmed it then flew back again. 😇
50 years on they might fly past the moon.🤣

NASA has to worry about safety. This is the first time they've lauch a ship this size. It's good they are being so responsible and being safe. Also that's a lot of tax money sitting there. Go NASA...

I dont know much but it seems the first moon landing was fake! How difficult is it to do something that you have done before even with more top notch tech?: what a joke!

Is technology from 50 years ago lost? Or are we deceived for 50 years.

If this was a Chinese launch, everyone would be laughing and say how unreliable ‘made in China’ is…

Good to know the past moon expeditions are fake as hell. 🤣

Glad they're taking every precaution. It'll be an amazing sight when it first launches!
