Instead they should send a letter asking the parent why the child is missing school. Parent illness, child illness, skipping school, ect. Then help to address the issues that the family is facing. Some children in low income families are missing school to work & contribute to the house hold income. She locked up a mom that had a sick child as DA in CA. They didn’t care what the reason was for the absences. How can she advocate for defund the police but send police to houses to lock up parents of sick children or families that are likely in crisis? This is just another example of her having no true identity. She changes based on what will give or keep her in power. Although I’m whet I came from a low income single parent household and started working at 15 to pay for my lunch, school clothes, to save for a car & financially help my mom when she needed it.

So… While the parents are at work so they can pay the mortgage, lights, gas, food etc and the child skips school behind their parents back the parents are punished via being arrested so that they can then lose their jobs and home?!?!? It seems to me that a better solution to this would be holding the students accountable with requiring volunteer work in their communities and schools after informing the parents of their truancy. Also the government should provide more grants for free and accessible exposure based leadership programs in the public schools. Finally, these schools need to get a handle on the bullying inside schools so that some of these students who are skipping school because they are afraidd, will feel that they can safely attend school without being bullied. 🤔
