I had an ex-coworker of my husbands show up to our house late one winter night with his pregnant girlfriend and her two toddler children wanting to stay a few days because they were homeless. Saddest of all was I was certain they were both drug addicts but i had no proof. I felt awful turning them away but had seen how laws can be used against homeowners. I gave them $50 for a hotel room for the night but no way was I letting them in to stay. They would have robbed me blind! Its sad that the laws can be twisted to punish people trying to help someone.

My sister and brother in law let a man stay at their house for a couple of days. My brother in law is a trucker and was out of town. He was supposed to leave the day he left for work but stayed. He would not leave. My brother in law called him and said you have to leave but he couldn't go. My sister called a friend a big biker friend and he said he would get him out. I love bikers they are the best people in the world. He came in and stripped down to his underwear and said he was going to sleep in the same bed with him every night until he left. He was gone in seconds.

The cops didn’t run his name? 6 warrants? That’s a joke. 🤦🏻‍♀️

They tend to do this with older folks. Praying on their Hospitality and knowing it's harder for them to go through the legal system. It's disgusting and all out horrible way to take advantage of others.

The cops will run dozens of plates a day trying to give out tickets but when a woman calls them to get unwelcomed people out of her house they don’t check the system? Lazy

Against the law to get a guest to leave but there are no issues forcing a spouse out of a home they are paying for? Lord help us!

The Austin Police didn't check Luper's history because "he wasn't a suspect in any crime." Man, who trains the Austin police? You get pulled over for speeding and they check your history. Why not when someone is trying to evict squatters?

She invited complete strangers into her home to stay for “a few days.” Hopefully she learned a hard lesson here.

I had an uncle, who had a woman try and do him like this.He called the cops, they told him she had 30 days! Uncle gave the woman a look and said"Oh, she can stay!" Went and got his shotgun and sat right back down in front of the cops! Cleaning his legal gun, woman left that night! Uncle was known for shooting and great skills with hawk bill knife! I believe an accident happening while cleaning a gun requires safer lodgings!

Happened to me. A friend lost her apartment and we let her stay for a few weeks until she could find another.
She was a disabled vet so we felt bad. Three months later we had to serve her with eviction papers and could only get her to leave if we gave her $1000. It was worth our peace of mind to pay her to get out. Don't do it, folks.

Our laws are inadequate. Squatters and house guests should have no rights. None!
