That's one of the advantages of using a GPS over a cell phone. The GPS is able to acquire its position from satellites, so you don't need an internet connection or cell service to use it.

my old one did and it broke i am looking for a new one that plays music as well

It will not, no. Unfortunately, Garmin has eliminated the mp3 player from most of its models (except for some of the high-end motorcycle units), assuming that most people have a separate device for mp3s already.
